New Member From Scotland
« on: April 13, 2022, 03:01:59 AM »
Hi everyone,

I'm a new member from Scotland and own a 1985 BMW R45. I've had the bike for a couple of years and it's been sat mostly untouched as I bought it with the intension of getting my motorcycle license but never got around to doing it. I now intend to sit my CBT this year and buy a 125cc bike that I can ride for a year, get some experience and find out if biking is something I want to continue further on the full license that I'll soon be old enough for (24). My intension this spring is to get the back back in good running condition with some small improvements on the aesthetics just to clean her up. I was told by the previous owner that it began life as a police bike but has since had all the fairings and panniers removed by previous owners leaving it in it's 'naked' form. It's registered as a R45T on the V5 which would help confirm that story, likewise the colour I believe being BMW POLIZEIWEISS (083) - police white - further confirms that. I've got the carbs off at the moment to rebuild and the airbox disassembled to clean/repaint. Anyway here is the bike...

Hiya, welcome. Looks nice.

If the bike bug doesn't bite on the beautiful roads of Scotland, I'll be surprised. Pass your test even if you don't decide to ride much. Useful for holidays (Route 66, Amalfi Drive, A95) and you can always return to it 30 years later
