Boris. A gaff too far. Novak also.
« on: January 12, 2022, 02:23:23 PM »
Boris has weathered some awful gaffs in his time but from my POV has been doing a job. Much in the Churchill mould during Covid. The latest (Partaaay!) has the potential to sink him. Mr Djokovic has a couple of recent blunders that I think is a 70% chance of a lose. Boris is around the same IMHO and either, or both, of them are going to have a bad day very soon.

What's the Aussi opinion on the No1 tennis player?
For: Lots of money, prestige and financial levers and smoothers as he is about to set a record. Think of the money and the international love.....  Will Scott cash-in?
Against: Lied about travel on visa entry. Didn't care about others by having an interview even though tested positive the day before and potentially a killer. Has not been vaccinated and endangers everyone else - which for an international traveller is inexcusable. If he lived in a remote place with no contact and stayed there or was on cancer drugs that might or would be a different situation. Has Scott got the balls to send him packing?

Scott needs the media to focus on Djokovic so they won't pickup on his failures in supply of rats test kits. That's how he works.
He took down the ceo of aussie post how didn't do anything wrong to cover a $30'000,000 land deal that should have sold for $3,000,000.

The argument with Djokovic is unfortunately muddled by there being errors on both sides. If only it was a simple case of his visa being rejected at initial application!

"Scotty from marketing" will do whatever market research suggests is best. Hence the ongoing delays in showing "leadership".

The big loss here is that international sports stars could stand up for the benfits of vaccination: an opportunity has been lost.

Novak ejected.

I think Boris' days are numbered too. Which is a sort of a shame - We don't have anyone to replace him. Starmer has no hope "Mr Hindsight".

I might apply. Wish me luck  :vrolijk_1:

Djok...... the tennis bloke is a hypocrite.

Yes, he is a very good tennis player but has rubbed the local Victorians noses in it by his actions after all they have endured under Dictator Dan and his Socialist regime.  Rightly or wrongly errors on all sides.

To gain entry for the Aussie Open was a two stage process.  Firstly he has to cross the border and then meet Victoria's entry requirements.  Unfortunately it would appear that he did it arse about with Tennis Australia getting him there at all costs.  Even though I don't have an opinion of him because I don't follow tennis, his big mistake was to be seen as an anti-vaxxer and then totally disregard the rules for entry to Oz through his media profile in the preceding two weeks.

The Border Force official did the right thing, then Mr Number 1 with all his sense of self importance engaged in a legal battle which overturned the decision.  That was always going to be challenged and the Federal government did the right thing by then taking it back to court and having the original decision reinstated.  People are turned around at the border daily for far less serious things so no big deal really.  The sad thing for him is that he faces a three year ban from Oz due to his actions.

I do feel sorry for Victorians generally in the way they have been dealt with under Dan and his culpability in the covid deaths that have occurred under his stewardship.  It would have been good for Victoria to have him there as the Open is a big ticket money earner which Victoria really needs as it struggles to fight its way out of covid, as we all are.  However I do hope he applies to attend next years event and the Federal government show leniency on him, granting an exemption and allows him to play as I suspect in twelve months time the strict covid regulations will have been somewhat relaxed.

Feel free to disagree as I'm just calling it as I see it.
