A general purpose wheel bearing grease will do the trick and you have many to choose from. I've seen spray on grease, moly grease in little packets, silicone grease, and grease with some sort of fibers in it (plumbers grease perhaps?) avoid these. An inexpensive tub of "wheel bearing grease" lasts a long time and works well.

I have pretty much standardized (for about the past 15 years anyway)all of my bearing lubing on Valvoline Semi-Synthetic wheel bearing grease.  Although I don't have any quantitative proof I feel it doesn't "dry out" as quick as the regular dino stuff.  I may experiment on the Junkyard LS and use a fully synthetic grease in the head and swingarm bearings as it most likely will sit more than it's ridden.

The spray stuff is quite expensive if used in in any quantity.

You want a 1kg tub of white LM (Lithium, Medium) grease.

I use Comma, widely available in UK from trade motor factors.


Castrol LM has been around for 50 years, or more - it does exactly what it says on the tin

I use wheel bearing grease in my steering head, swingarm, and wheel bearings.  The spray-on white lithium stuff is pretty thin and will dry out to a chalky, tacky film after a while.
I do use the spray on white stuff, primarily for bicycle chain lube (where it gets cleaned/replaced regulalrly) and as an anti-rust protector on exposed metal ball joints, etc on my tractor's 3pt hitch and implements, etc.
