I should be able to accomadate putting it back together ok w/out worrying too much about the inside of the tube..however tire rub will be a concern as that was extreemly close to begin w/.
Bill

Tire rub where? The swingarm alignment doesn't affect the closeness of the tire to the swingarm. Is your tire close to the fender? If so, the problem is with the rear sub-frame.  I wouldn't position the swingarm just to effect a clearance with the fender, better to tweak the sub-frame.
If you are running a 120/90 tire and you don't have a bearing spacer in, you could be having clearance problems. If you run a 110/90 rear , which is closer to the OEM 4.00 x 18, then you don't have clearance problems.

+1 with Chris in BC - I was scratching my head trying to figure out how swingarm alignment could come into play with tire clearance - unless the subframe is REALLY warped.
I'd post a link to one of our rear tire size threads here, but something is indeed funky about the search function, I think, as it doesn't turn up stuff that I just KNOW is there...somewhere.

Bill.

Yes.  Use blue loctite on the drive shaft bolts.  I use the short bolts without the washers and I buy new every time.  Where is my coolaid....   ::)

The Michelin Macadam 120/90H18 will *just* fit in the swing arm.  Right now I have an Avon 4.00H18 from one of my BSAs.  When it wears out I will go back to the Macadam but it will be the 4.00H18 stock size.  My bike handles better with the stock size and its easier to remove from the bike (on a dark night in the rain).

The funny thing is club members who ride behind me swear that the tire is too small.  Of course they are part of the "Bigger is Better" crowd.  I just smile and wave.... ;D
