200 Day
« on: July 18, 2016, 08:47:54 PM »
Had some rough turns as of late. The boss of my construction company u[ and retired after 22 years and laid us all off. Poked around with some promising offers and ended up working for a hospital in Jersey that I had built 12 years ago. They love me, but I have been working 6 - 7 days fixing what my predecessor left behind.
Yesterday I sad F--K it, and got on the bike early. Filled the tank with avgas and took off. Didn't have a destination, just had to go. Rode every secondary road with low traffic I could think of. Most paved, some not. Had some good food on the way. Roasting hot, but OK as long as I was moving. Thankful I got that oil temp dipstick. Did two bills on the nose. My day!

I had a similar situation happen to me on Nov. 14, 1991, the airline I had worked for, for 12 years stopped operating the night before .

Went into work at 530 AM, the place was locked up and chained with Chicago police guarding the employee entrance .

Went home, waited for rush hour traffic to die down, then went on a ride around Lake Michigan, 800 miles in three days on the '81 R65 .

Weather was unseasonably warm , two days after I got home, 8 inches of snow !!!

Losing that job was the best thing that happened, 18 months later I was living in the Phoenix area, been riding all year long since April, 93 .

Riding all year long since 1993 .
I'll give up my R65, when they pry my cold dead hands from the handlebars !!!!!

I just got back to work from a 5 day vacation - went to the MOA rally and back, plus some touring along Lake Erie, through the Adirondacks, and through the middle of Vermont on the way back to NH (home).   About 1260 miles spread over mostly 3 days of riding (the reset were exploring the rally).   My brain feels much better now!
