Tuesday ride. The pic is at the west end of the former Aubrey Slab on TX FM428 in northern Denton County. Indian Paintbrush and that old, narrow iron bridge where Clear Creek runs on down to the Trinity River. Bridge is now out of service but still firm in my memory.
Way back in the days when the bottoms would flood with anything more than a Texas heavy dew, I was heading east across that narrow bridge in my '81 F100, I came upon a young cowgirl driving daddy's pickemup truck heading west. We met in the middle. Both of us lost driver-side mirrors.
Today's ride through hills and many twisties was with far less drama. Bluebonnets and Indian Paintbrush colored green fields holding fine horseflesh, steers, goats, llamas, geese and a few farm dogs.
Tomorrow, I'll meet up with a GS-riding buddy for lunchtime barbecue at the Hard Eight in Roanoke, Texas. Payback time.
