Riding Into History
« on: May 24, 2015, 06:14:32 PM »
Spent yesterday in St Augustine, FL at an event called Riding Into History. It is a historic motorcycle show that has been raising money for an organization called K-9's for Warriors (service dogs for vets in need). Each year they highlight a different segment of motorcycles. This year was British motorcycles.

Two of the highlights were a twin engine Triumph Bonneville salt flats racer and a twin Engine Triumph street bike. The street bike was so well done you had to do a double take to be sure of why it looked different.

There was a little something for everyone. BMW was well represented and even had a nice 1982 R65LS that was original unmolested shape. I even had my sidecar rig there. No hope against the stunning bikes on display but it was definitely a kids favorite. I let them all climb in and must have had at least 50 children have their picture taken by mom, dad or grandparents while sitting in it.

The stars of the show were the Brit bikes and they were awesome. There was even a display of antique bicycles. Blue skies, temps in the upper 70's F and a nice ocean breeze. Perfect day.

Here are some of my favorites.
Keep your bike in good repair: motorcycle boots are not comfortable for walking.

Ah, Florida sunshine! We could use any kind of sunshine here in Tejas as we've had nothing but clouds, rain, wind and the occasional tornado.

Beautiful photos of some equally beautiful bikes.  [smiley=thumbsup.gif]

Love that wacky 'Neracar', but not sure I would want to drive it.

Nice pictures.  I parked my R65 next to another black one with a side car attached at the show in Corvallis a couple of Sundays ago, but didn't talk with the owner.  I don't know much about side cars but it was one of the cylindrical looking ones, black, with lines going from front to rear.  Pretty stuff.
