While it is not exactly my idea of a fun time it is still an excuse to get out and ride so I took Friday off and rode to Daytona.
Beautiful sunny day but strange temps, 32*F when I left, up to 70*F by midday and back to high 30*'s by the time I got home.
Add to that 500,000 plus people on bikes and you get the idea. Lots of v-twin people going vroom-vroom and trying to act like they are outlaws and packs of sport bikes zooming around like swarms of wasps.
First stop was Destination Daytona which started as a Harley Davidson dealer and has grown into a full blown shopping mall with a vendor selling everything you could imagine for a motorcycle. 20 minutes to get in and find a place to park and had to take a shuttle back to where everything was located. I had some friends camping there so I stopped to say hello, eat lunch and get the heck out of there.
Next stop was at the independent BMW mechanic I do business with, Rennsport Motorrad. He was about 30 minutes away and is a good friend.
Final stop was at the BMW dealership in Daytona. Got a peek at an RnineT. Could look but no touching allowed. The salesmen tried to sell me something/anything but when I told then they couldn't pry me off my airhead they just walked away. I just smiled because all the people in the parking lot were checking out my R65 instead of the new bikes. :-)
Took the long way home following the beach road as far as I could before turning inland. All in all a good day on two wheels, about 340 miles round trip.
