On August 28th I thought I had my bike rebuilt. I was having an issue with the transmission lever hitting the bike frame, but I decided "to heck with it, I'm going for a ride". What I didn't realize, was that several months earlier, I had drained the transmission and replaced the drain plug loosely, so as not to lose it...
Last April I only rode it a few miles before discovering the lever problem. But I didn't run it enough to really heat up the transmission.
I assumed I had bent the frame in some bizarre fashion, and settled into a summer-long funk.
Then in August, I "went for a ride" - without checking my fluids....
I was going to my sister's across town on the interstate. After 20 miles or so of that, when I went to exit the highway, there were all kinds of new noises!
Sept. 9, I buy a new, used transmission.
Oct. 9, I finish the installation! I just happened to request a Friday off work, yesterday, and we have had beautiful weather - not a cloud in the sky and 83F (28C) right now! I worked all day yesterday at a fever pitch
in order to get it done for today!
Tomorrow is supposed to be more of the same.
Wish me luck. I am hoping to get south of town and maybe bring back some pictures, for you!
