Picked up my bike from the mechanic yesterday and of course went for a ride. It was sunny with some clouds when we finally were able to leave. We were headed for Lake Berryessa and a sidecar rally that was happening there.
We headed up Mark West Spring Rd, and headed to Calistoga. Beautiful little twisty road up into the hills and down into Napa Valley. As we rode along it got colder and the clouds were coming in fast and thick. The weather is changing so fast around here that I didn't even know that this was coming through. We stopped at the junction to Hwy 29 in Calistoga and put the liners in our jackets. That wind was cold. From there we could see the clouds above where we were headed and could see it was raining. Nope! I'm not prepared for that.
Decided to go to this popular and really good fast food burger place in St. Helena that puts out gourmet burgers and other kinds of sandwiches and food (it is Napa Valley after all
). After dealing with the heavy traffic through St. Helena we got there only to find that a tour bus had just stopped there.
We could be somewhere else and be eating some hot food before we could even order here. Darn! Okay, so it's cold and we want to eat, so we decide to retrace our ride and stop at our favorite fairly fast food place right where we started.
It's getting cloudier and on the way back I suddenly hear this tapping on my helmet. It's raining!
Wouldn't you know. It's my first ride out and it's freakin' cold and raining now.
It actually makes me laugh right into my helmet. Luckily it doesn't rain much; just enough to get some rain drops on my face shield. But I pick up the pace a bit and we are at the bottom of the hill and at the restaurant very quickly.
I do have to say that this bike runs better now than ever since I've had it. It's running so smooth. The carbs are synched perfectly and the idle finally is right. He adjusted the throttle so it's perfect now. Yahoo
