2009 BMW RA Rally!!
« on: July 30, 2009, 05:24:27 PM »
OK, I finally got the pictures out of the camera and loaded in to share.

http://s129.photobucket.com/albums/p210/cabcgec/Motorcycles/2009%20BMW%20RA%20Rally/?albumview=slideshow

I THINK this will take you to a slide show of my pictures, including my stopover at Willville.  Here's a taste...

Remember, Kilroy was here?!  We had fun taking a bunch of silly pictures.  I think Sue has more...
(Oh yeah, SueCanada (Sue) on left, msbuck (Aïda) on right.)

Overall the rally was nice, although I was working the vendor tent for Motomark1 and didn't see as much of the grounds as I would have liked.  The campground was away from the lodge and they had a shuttle running from place to place.  The weather was nice overall, but with thunderstorms in the early evening just about every night.  We spent a lot of time fighting the wind with the vendor tent!

Saw lots of folks I hadn't seen in years and got to hook up with Sue!  I was hoping for a bigger R65 showing, although both Sue and I spotted several around.  Sue just might have talked her camping neighbor into checking out the forum.  We'll see...

Sue was headed back (by herself... >:( )  Stewart left her after the MOA National.  He was a bit people overwhelmed I think.  Sue was heading the way Daniel (her GPS) sent her to visit family before she makes it back home.  Not sure how long she'll be on the road.  She assured me she would be taking plenty of rest breaks.

Enjoy the pics.  All I know about next year's rally is that it will be East of the Mississippi.

GREAT slideshow, Aida!!!  Well done!!  [smiley=thumbsup.gif]  LOVED the pics of the deer!!

That place looks like a fantastic place for a rally!  Is it a ski resort?  Looked like plenty of room to camp, and lots of shade trees!

Any idea how many attended the RA rally?

You and Sue are quite photogenic!   ;)  Excellent reps for the forum!!

Yep, a ski resort.  We were laying in bed drinking our first cup of coffee when the four deer (2 does, 1 fawn and 1 buck) came strolling by.  They were definitely NOT afraid of humans!

The camping was actually by the golf course in a big field.  They had some pretty strict boundaries from what I heard.  They even assigned camp spots - at least for awhile.  They had the ski lifts running so folks could check out the view, but I never made it over.

They had some computer problems, but said that a little over 1500 were in attendance.

Great Pics, thanks for sharing them !

I am sure that Sue enjoyed her visit with you tremendously and that this whole trip to the MOA rally and then the RA in West Virginia has enabled her to regain some confidence in herself again.   I think that she was planning to visit with some relations who live in the finger lakes region of NY on her way back, though she should be back home again very soon.

I'd never spent much time in West Virginia before this trip down to the MOA rally - it's very pretty there and even though the mountains aren't large, they sure got plenty of them!

Yep, bear sign.  They are having about 3-4 sightings per week these days.  Will at the campground is a bit concerned...he already has the raccoons stealing the campers food.  I told him the bears would probably solve his raccoon problems!

Let's see if we can do this the PETA way... If the bears eat just one little 'ol camper, the raiding raccoons will likely go away too because the campers quit coming. Sounds like a government program if I ever heard of one.  ;)

Careful about 'em bears.  One of our Georgia riders hit one up in the mountains a week or two ago.
