Can anyone give me the true amount of oil to put in my forks for a refill? Yes, i know, rtfm, but my manuals,all 3 of them give conflicting numbers. Any help would be appreciated.

I'll check my notes later but I recall an amount to add after a rebuild, ie: fork legs 'bone dry' and a smaller amount for the routine drain & refill. Back later on this...

190cc wet refill and 210cc dry refill are the figures I've got but I can't remember where from. Mine certainly needed the extra amount after a full strip down and clean.  Haynes quote a level range of 15 - 40mm above the damper piston.  I measured the level with a length of 4mm steel rod and used 30mm.  

If you think about it the level must be a little above the damper pistion at all times for the damper to function and be lubricated. Any extra will reduce the air space above the piston which acts as an air spring and will start to increase the overall spring rate when the forks are getting towards full travel.

I also used 210cc or 215cc per leg when I last took mine apart to replace seals & springs.

Thanks alot guys -those numbers are the same as the owners manual so I guess thats the one to go with..
