Moto Guzzi Parts Support
« on: July 02, 2009, 06:46:40 PM »
Just started ordering parts for the V65, no parts support in the Phoenix area what so ever, only 'dealer', about 8 miles from the house, doesn't even stock oil filters !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Found what appears to be a reputable dealer in the Kansas City, Missouri area, Harpers Moto Guzzi .

http://harpersmotoguzzi.com/

They also have the V7 Classic in stock .

Parts were ordered Tuesday, lets see what kind of service I get .

Wow, Bob. The Harper's MotoGuzzi site is pretty impressive. Thirty-five years supporting your new acquisition ought to mean something. I even kinda like the old school "We don't have on-line ordering. Email us." Reminds me of Re-Psycle BMW up Ohio way.   Monte

You probably already have found these guys, but some folks on this forum might be of some assistance in locating other support/parts sources:

I've made a few posts there, and the response was underwhelming .

I made a post about recommended oil, and tires, and got one or two responses .

It's definitely not an R65.org response !!!

I'm getting the general feeling, that the 500 and 650 cc Guzzi's are about what the R65 is to BMW riders, not a 'real' motorcycle .

Then WildGuzzi group is actually a great bunch, but sometimes take a minute to warm up to. Response to oil and tire threads can be underwhelming, and have been repeated often. But quite a few members there are into the "small block" bikes, and the search feature works very well too.

Harper's is a longtime dealer with a big parts business too. Mike Harper has even recreated a fair number of obsolete parts for the older bikes.
Also see http://www.mphcycles.com/ , and particularly look into http://www.mgcycle.com/ : they've got everything, or can get it.

ps: Also check http://www.epfguzzi.com/ in Prescott too, they've been around for about forever and have a very strong rep.

I've emailed EPF 4 times in the last two weeks, and have yet to get a response from them, about their parts support, and availability of maintenance and parts manuals .

I'd rather do business with a local shop, it's about 100 miles or so to their shop in Prescott,AZ., and a decent back roads cruise as well .

Okay, just trying to help. Many of these places are old school shops and respond better to phone calls, however, and can discuss specific parts with you that way. NAPA can also supply most filters, bulbs, etc.

And again, MG Cycle has everything: the concept of "local shops" for most Guzzi riders doesn't really exist, you order the parts then either do it yourself or find a local mechanic who will. They're as simple as the BMW airheads to work on, if not more so.

Bob, call Todd or Mike Haven at MPH Cycles in Houston.  They are long time MG dealers and great to work with.  Their website is "mphcycles.com".  Guzzi guys are a bit different than this troop is but incredibly loyal to their brand.  Haven't bought from Harpers but they come highly recommended.
