To see insanity at its best -- visit Britain!
A few days ago the newspapers reported on the case of a university professor who intended to travel by train to Durham and went off with the correct ticket. However, en route he decided to cut his trip short and left the train at Darlington, about 35 miles short of Durham. Now the train company has threatened to sue him for equivalent of about $200 for breaking his contract with the company, meaning the agreement to make the journey specified on his ticket. So he’s being sued for giving the company a gift of a vacant seat for 35 miles. And this from a train company which is happy to cancel trains when it feels like it and then runs for the small print. What a country.
