Well the death toll is still 181 - but it is strongly suggested that it will rise to over two hundred. I was listening to the news tonight and 7 000 people are without houses. To date $68m has been raised for the relief fund, but <shakes head> looters are beginning to be caught and there are bogus relief funds being set up. You've got to be kidding.  [smiley=behead.gif]

Fire fighters are coming in from Ca. Thanks guys!

The temps in Adelaide are on the rise again and this afternoon there was a brush fire about 5kms from my house. I just have a bit of a bad feeling right now.....

Update:
Hmmm....very strong smell of smoke and the wind is coming from the south west now....ain't Victoria this time

Well the strong smell of smoke I could detect the other day was coming from another scrub fire  a few kms from here.

I've attached a couple photos looking to the East taken from my back yard about 10 mins ago showing the smoke haze from the fires in Victoria gently wafting across the Adleaide Hills....

Beautiful area, Aussie.

I know that smell and haze.  That's what it was like here the beginning of last summer when we had all the fires in California.  Thank goodness you can't see the flames.

So, the California firefighters came to help out?  Super!  They are good and know what to do.

I feel so bad for all those people that got caught by those fires.

189 and unfortunately still rising. A guy who allegedly (yeah right) set some fires deliberately (I think this one killed 11) and is also in possession of kiddy porn (not that they are related..) has appeared in court. His lawyer tried to have his name suppressed because he may possibly be 'targeted by undesirables'... ;D

Dang it's humid here - possible rain (read a few drops) on Thursday.

They need to turn him loose in the middle of the recovery effort with a sign around his neck- if there is irrefutable evidence he is one of the scumbags...

How depressing - 201 confirmed dead. $78m and counting on insurance claims. There go the premiums.

1 firefighter killed when a tree fell on him yesterday...

Ye gads - they can't take a trick...Victoria had an earthquake - measured 4.6. No loss of life reported though.

I heard the explanation on the news this morning from an expert....it was due to a build up of pressure in the plates and then the sudden release. So THAT'S what causes it? Duh!
