FNG from Arkansas
« on: July 30, 2014, 05:45:37 PM »
Joined the forum today, back on a BMW after several years. I picked up a '84 R65 yesterday. My last Beemers were a '83 R80RT and a R75/6 . Hope to learn some and maybe help a little.

Welcome to an enthusiastic little group dedicated to keeping one of the more obscure BMW models alive.

To get in before the chorus. Pictures, we love Pictures.http://www.bmwr65.org/htdocs/yabbfiles/Smilies/bmw_smiley.gif

Tony's right.  [smiley=thumbsup.gif] We love to see photos of members bikes. Pony up!

Arkansas? I married an Arkansas dairy farm girl with a doctorate degree. We're heading off this weekend to a family reunion on her mom's side. It's a formal event... shoes required!

Your Airhead experience will be appreciated.

Out of curiosity. What is your wife's doctorate field?

BS, MS and PhD in Family and Consumer Sciences from Texas Woman's University -where she continues to serve, for the last twelve years, as an adjunct professor. Also logged 33 years in classroom and admin prior to retiring from public education.

Typical teacher. She makes me do it over and over again until I get it right.  ::)

Here's a pic of my little barn fresh beauty, runs perfect but it's a little ratty. Parts are on the way, next week will be better than Christmas!

I enrolled last year in a Doctoral program (LLD) as a "pre-retirement" interest - I figure I may as well do something to keep the mental juices flowing as I slide slowly towards retirement. I will admit that there is a little sibling rivalry there too, my younger brother, a Chaplin in the Navy, has a Doctorate in Divinity  and my younger sister has a Doctorate in fine arts.

I did my Masters some years back, but that was at least in part a scam on my part. We are required to do "compulsory professional development" training each year. I figured out that enrollment in Masters by coursework not only met the CPD requirements, it was cheaper and more effective as a tax deduction than CPD costs.

Needless to say it took me as long as the University would actually allow me to complete it, saving me thousands in CPD courses not paid for.

My wife is a school teacher, I well understand.
