Ardys "Queenie" Kellerman passes
« on: June 26, 2013, 02:56:53 PM »
Quite the legend within BMW long-distance riders, and a regular visitor to Lone Star BMW-Triumph in Austin, Texas, 81-year old Queenie - with over one million miles under her BMW wheels- died tragically on Monday, June 24, in a motorcycle/car accident just outside the front entry drive to Barber Motorsports Park.

Quite the lady and a friend to all who knew her. RIP Ardys.

She was quite an interesting woman - I recall meeting her at an MOA rally about 10 years ago or so, and at various ones since.   A million miles on a motorcycle - any motorcycle - is quite an achievement, and she had plenty of interesting stories to tell.   That is one of the things that I find most interesting at motorcycle rallies, particularly BMW rallies - meeting new people and hearing their stories.   Much more interesting than  flaming cars, stunt riders, sweepstakes giveaways, free beer, or wet t-shirt contests.

OK, I put the free beer one in there just to see if you were paying attention!   Rest in peace Ardys!

I doubt if I'll even drive a million miles in my life, even if you include all forms of locomotion like my bicycle.

This is just horrible news and does nothing for my already flagging confidence level as I contemplate the ride west. I always made a point of talking to Ardys wherever we found ourselves in her presence.
1983 R65LS - LRB still my favourite!? 1988 Honda NX250, "Toodles Too" and a Suzuki DR650, "Calypso." All stored in the "Brrrmmm Closet".
