Good evening. Just picked up my first BMW,a 1980 R65 with 2 prior owners, the last since 1988! He and his wife having been all across the USA. It has around 80k miles on it and since picking it up I've changed to oil and adjusted the valves. All the other fluids and lube in the next couple days. The bike had a Harley trunk on it that was a welcome space for packing ill bet! It came with the trunk to match the bags and a bunch of spare parts, manuals etc.
I have to search thru here to have my questions answered and learn. Talk to you later, Jim

Ready for some Springtime tours!

Welcome to our herd, Jim and Mona... so whose R65 is it? Co-riders, I'll bet.

Ask any questions you may have. We can dream up some answers.

And check out the FAQs section for some good info. There's a pdf format owners manual you can download. 1979-80 R65s have some differences with the later Mks but there's plenty of info in the manual.

Thanks for the welcome. The 65 is for me to save money on gas during the week and for me to take on my 500 mile round trips for a good hotdog or such. Here is a picture of the way we travel together.

Welcome Jim!  That picture looks like it was taken at Willville!   ;D  That's one of our favorite spots ever.  What kind of camper is that?  Looks very interesting.

I think you'll really enjoy the R65.
