« on: May 25, 2013, 12:04:53 PM »
Monday, 27 May 2013, is Memorial Day -a national holiday here in the land of the free and the home of the brave. Please take just a few moments to be silent and remember. Thank you.

It is foolish and wrong
to mourn the men who died.
Rather we should thank God
that such men lived.

Keep your bike in good repair: motorcycle boots are not comfortable for walking.

I'm looking for my flag now to put up outside my house to honor those who paid the ultimate price for the freedom most all of us take for granted.

I've been listening to advertising on radio and television this past week, about Memorial Day sales of this and that, etc..........

I have yet to hear of any reference to what his weekend/holiday is really about, it seems that the general public is totally clueless about the real meaning of Memorial Day (and of most things in general).

My father's side of the family came to the US in 1680 and has been involved in every military action/conflict up to Viet Nam .

People here in the US have no idea what it is like not to have the freedoms that we enjoy today .

Or how we got them !!!!!!

Marc - it's not to mourn so much as to remember the sacrifices these brave heroes made in order for us to become/remain free.

Bob - it is a shame that the meaning of such important holidays is obscured by commercialism.  But, I suppose that's part of the freedom they/we fought for.
