hard bag safety strap
« on: July 15, 2011, 06:06:28 PM »
Does anyone know the best way to strap on the Krauser hard bags?  I know I've seen straps for sale, but can't remember where.  One of my bags is a little loose in the mount, and I thought a nice leather belt type strap would look sort of vintage.  (Brown leather belts are very expensive).
What are other ideas to secure the bags to the mounts?
Thanks for the input.

Ron

I *believe* the Rock Straps are from a different supplier - they look similar but I think there is a difference in the width.   I haven't used these from the "Don't Wanna Pickle" Lady, but they look like they should work and the price seems within reason.   I'm planning to try them out soon.

I picked up a similar strap at the local Walmart in the sporting goods dept among the camping gear. It is designed for lashing gear to whatever. One inch wide webbing with a molded nylon quick release for $1.50. It was actually too long and I had to cut it to length. Worked great until I got in a rush and strapped it under the muffler one trip. No problem, just stopped at the next Walmart (they are everywhere) and picked up a replacement.
Keep your bike in good repair: motorcycle boots are not comfortable for walking.
