As are all of us...

I'm reminded of the Black Knight sword fight scene in Monty Python's Search for the Holy Grail... "Come back. It's merely a flesh wound."

Wishing you a speedy and full recovery, John.

Hey all....

Well, on Monday I had my visit to the hand specialist to check on how my thumb is healing.  I got my first look at the thumb, with the three pins sticking out here and there (wild looking, too). He was pleased with the x-rays, and said he will probably take the pins out in 6 weeks so I can begin doing some rehab exercises on it.

Yesterday, I saw the orthopedic surgeon who operated on my knee.  I saw the x-rays that showed hollowed out screws inserted in the patella that had wire going through them and pulling the three parts together.  (Weird looking, too!) He said the open wound from the "road rash" was healing up nicely, with no skin grafts likely needed in the future.  He also wrote orders for my leg brace to have a 40 degree range of motion set when I begin doing bending exercises three times a day, starting on Thursday.  (Now, the fun begins!)  The best news was hearing that I can begin taking showers!  Woo-Hoo!!!!   ;D

Heh, I bet your better half is even more pumped about that!  ;)

Glad you are progressing nicely in your healing process.

I agree...Pattimarie is the one for the woo hoo!!! Boy, good to hear the news John. It will be a long process too i guess. So what would have saved the road rash part??

Talked to John for a good while earlier. It sounds like he's rehabbing well so far, but he also seems to be a bit housebound, even though he's able to get out, with limitations. Frustrated might be a better term, even though he's in his usual high spirits. It's hard to keep Our Boy down for long!

I'm sure he'd appreciate any PMs and emails from the group here, to brighten up the days  [smiley=thumbsup.gif] a bit.
