New R65 owner says "Hello"
« on: May 16, 2008, 05:33:24 AM »
Hi folks
I've recently taken on an R65.  My sports bike was playing havoc with my spine!  The bike is 24 years old and needed a little fettling.  I've removed the big old fairing and have had to remount the headlight and clocks etc.  A little searching found suitable bits but there was some modification needed as "things" kept getting in the way!  The bike is now through the "MOT" (GB ministry of transport annual test)  and I just have a few minor issues to sort out.

Welcome aboard Mike.
What sort of "issues" did they comment on?    :-/

It wasn't the MOT man who commented on the issues, it's little bits and bats of wear and tear which I have spotted which are as yet legal but could cause probs later.  I've since removed the big old fairing which had some cracking due to the previous owner letting it fall over.  This involved having to fit a used headlamp mount, re-route the hydraulics for front brake, sort out some naff wiring and fix the "taped in" indicator warning lights etc.  Odds and ends of cosmetics also done as the previous owner preferred riding to polishing. :)

Sounds familiar Mike.  I've spent more time making the bike safe & roadworthy than I've spent riding since I got mine in December.   :-[

Now changing (I hope) to minor servicing as needed, & much more time riding.

Post a picture when you can.
