R65 Rocker covers
« on: April 04, 2008, 01:47:33 PM »
Hi Guys,

The fellow I bought my bike from had the brilliant idea of painting the rocker covers black with an old house brush and shiny paint. I even went out and bought an angle grinder to brush the paint away when I found in the internet a pair of BRAND NEW rocker covers for sale for a very decent price. The guy insists they fit BMW R60-R80/R65GS-R80ST/R65-R80RT/R100 but I seem to remember they were different in size...is this correct? Are they one size fits all?
Thanks

I did a quick check with a few online parts catalogs, and what I came up with was the R65 and R80 used the same rocker covers, the R100 has a different part number, so I don't know if it will work or not.

If the parts have any part numbers on them, the BMW part numbers are : 11121263761 for the left, and 11121263762 for the right side.

With the painted covers you have, before trying a metal brush, if you can get some paint stripper, it's a lot faster, and easier on the aluminum metal.

Bob,

You rock! thanks for that tip. I sent him an email asking him the parts numbers (without any mention of your reference).....I got a PERFECT match!
Very helpful, thanks. Can you give me the links to the online catalouge pages you were looking at?

Thanks again!!

The one I use the most is RealOEM.com, before you go to the site, get the last seven characters of the frame VIN, and put that into the requested box.

Max BMW is another site as well.
