I guess I hit the "post" button. Anyway, my friend moved back to Bethesda MD and we completely stripped the bike to get the rusty frame powder-coated. In the process he had it painted a Jaguar titanium silver with gray wheels (don't ask). He moved eventually to North Carolina but didn't ride much. Then he had a stroke (fine now, full recovery) and two years ago he put the bike in his pickup and gave it back to me with only 14,000 miles. Considering that the bike was free I bought a bunch of new parts including NOS exhaust, carb kits, caliper kits, brake lines, master cylinder, etc. and had the bodywork repainted the original Henna Red. The wheels are still gray, maybe after everything else is up & running they'll be white again. I am nearing the end of re-assembly. I am a little worried that the clutch may be totally stuck after all these years, and if so it's going off to Bob's BMW for that and a precautionary spline lube. Bob has a pristine red LS on display in his shop, a local Mecca for all things Beemer.
The bike has Koni rears and a deep sump and a Telefix fork brace, otherwise stock. Anything else I should be thinking about?
