Hi all and Happy New Year!  I finally checked my messages and realized I'd
broken ettiquette and failed to post my newbie entry to the board so here it
is.

I hail from the SF Bay Area in Northern California and am the lucky recipient
of a free '82 R65 LS that my neighbor just gave me.  Yup, great Christmas at
my house!  The bike is pretty cherry and will just nead a basic going through
to get it back on the road so I'll get to it soon and keep you all updated on how
it goes.  Can't wait!

I'm a complete motorcycle nut (who isn't on this board?) who's been riding
since the Earth's crust first cooled, and firmly believe that if I can still walk
through my garage then there aren't too many bikes.  I've been an off-road
racer since about 1972 and done just about everything in that arena that you
can do.  I'm also heavily involved in the AHRMA vintage racing scene and
specialize in building and restoring Maicos for my fellow vintage mxers.  I've
also been street riding for just about as long and have owned a long and diverse
mix of bikes, including my first BMW back in the '80s, an R100CS.  The R65LS is
something like my 40th bike, if my fading memory is working.

The current stable includes:  1974 KTM 400 MX, 1966 BSA 441 Victor Enduro, a
Rickman BSA 250 MXer, 1973 Hodaka 125 Wombat, 1995 KTM 300 EXC, 1995
Ducati 900SS SP, 2005 Ducati Multistrada 1000S, and of course the newly acquired
lovely red '82 R65LS.  I think there are a couple of project bikes I'm forgetting,
but you get the idea.  If it's got two wheels and a motor I love it.

Well I think that's about it for now.  Whew, long and wordy post for a newbie!
Thanks for your warm welcome to the board.  I look forward to many fun miles
on the LS and can't wait to get it running.  Have a great New Year everyone,
keep the rubber side down, and enjoy every mile along the way.

Welcome, Erik.

Whew!  You do have a stable.  Nice bikes you have too.  And what a wonderful gift - an R65 LS!   [smiley=thumbsup.gif]

I'm from Northern California too - Sonoma County.   That R65 will love the great back roads in this area!

Have fun!
