anyone done business with MotorWorks?
« on: September 10, 2012, 06:03:50 PM »
Has anyone done business with MotorWorks in the UK? I was ordering a part and got down to the part where I put my name and address in and there was no United States as a country selection. There were 50+ countries on the drop down menu , but no USA

Do they NOT do business with us?

Thanks

If you know someone in England -a forum member?- perhaps they could receive your order and reship to you?

That makes the transaction  too messy for me , I'm a point, click and wait for the truck guy.

They must have had a bad experience dealing here to ignore 300 million possible buyers.

Too bad, they were the only folks that might have had the handle bar I was looking for on the cheap. They had a /5 R45-R65 bar that I would have tossed $40 there way just in case it worked.

Don't feel too bad, it happened to me too.  Canada is not listed.  The answer I received from them was that the cost to insure any shipment to Canada was extremely high.

Yes, and that was because they had probably had cause to use it - the insurance that is.  So it was cheaper to stop.  They consistently undercut Motobins, who still send out across the pond - I wonder if that is the reason why?

Now before anyone gets hot under the collar - I am not accusing everyone across the pond of being a crim - After all they still send stuff to the Aussies...... ;)  But perhaps the postal service is not what it could be or, more likley, the insurance salesmen are a bunch of sharks.

Hi Burt - I'm in Adelaide and I have delt with Motorworks okay - my last order was here in 7 days - that was about a year ago - my second order - placed 6 days ago - is shown on the tracking as having left the UK on the 7/9/2012 - last time it took 7 days to arrive here so I expect to recieve the parcel in a few days.
Motorworks have a very good reputation around the world - strange about the North American and Canadian region though. I have $900 order on its way as I'm in the middle of a resto on the bike. So far thay have always been very helkpful when emailing them for advice of any kind and the staff are very polite and efficient on the phone. I hope yer stuff arrives soon mate. Adrian .....

Hey Adrian,

Not expecting any dramas as there a couple items on back order.

After all they still send stuff to the Aussies.

I drove past Riverside, CA earlier in the year and it looks like a dodgy neighbourhood.  So maybe that's why they don't send stuff there.   :o

Cheers, Burt.

Motorworks are supergood and superfast -- in their own country! It's too bad they don't ship to the US. I have also heard that this is due to insurance problems. It's unusual so they must have some good reason, most UK companies ship anywhere, whether motorcycle or not. I too can help with small parts.
