World War II ended what...May 1945 in Europe? And August '45 for Japan? So my Dad was on leave from India or back from India, to Engand and home to Canada so that my brother was a 1946, January baby. Not much rest for the wicked as I came along January 3, 1947.
Monte, I gotta say that I never saw another lady rider in the 70's either, although we all know there were a few great pioneers even back into the early part of the century...just not a lot.
After 2 boys I just may have been a bit of a disappointment for my Mum who probably was looking forward to a real girl..not a tomboy but hey, I can change oil, do valves and still cook and clean. Multi-talented ;)

The Can Am photo doesn't seem the right file type to get it posted.
1983 R65LS - LRB still my favourite!? 1988 Honda NX250, "Toodles Too" and a Suzuki DR650, "Calypso." All stored in the "Brrrmmm Closet".

I'm not to far off from you two and remember back in '72 or '73 pleading with my mum for a mini bike (I wanted to be like Evel) but they thought I was still to young and we neither had the money for such a boy toy.  Probably most important we lived in a big city where the only dirt for me to ride on would have been in the back alley.

I always envied the kids who's parents were okay with a few broken bones.

BTW my mum was born in 1940 and I in 1966

Oh and great pics!  I would have had a crush on a girl like Sue ;)

It would seem we are sharing the same year of birth...1947! At the time I was riding a RT1 360 Yamaha that I could not start with the kickstarter. <snip>

I have a female friend who occasionally rides and is a fan of older Harleys.  One of her favorites sayings is "If it doesn't start with a kick, its a bike for a chick."  BTW, she is not petite, and I am sure could kick over a Harley.
