New clutch in the Garage Ornament
« on: February 28, 2008, 07:47:45 PM »
I finally got 'round to putting a new clutch in the '80.  The other was still within spec (by about .47 mm) but it's engagement was extremely abrupt and at the very end of the lever travel.  After bolting everything back together I had to turn in the adjustment bolt at the tranny end several turns before even getting ANY lever at all!  I'll finish buttoning everything back up tomorrow and give it a test to see if the action improved any.  I was able to try out the clutch alignment tool I turned out, and although I know it's not super difficult to do it without the tool takes all the guess and messing about out of it...

I agree, using an alignment tool is the best way, as I really hate having to disassemble things a second time if the alignment isn't quite right due to something slipping on me a bit during the first reassembly.   I'd have bought an alignment tool from you if you had one for sale a year or so ago !

It is doable without, but I'm with you as it makes it a bit easier and the older I get the lazier I get!   ;D  I had never offered any for sale, but if anybody wants one...  ;)
