NY Times MC repair article

Lengthy, interesting, article.  Sort of a 21st Century "Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance" piece about the intrinsic value/pleasure of working with your hands - fixing scooters.

Very articulate and insightful.  Thanks for sharing this.  Now where did I put my 10mm 12pt socket?  It was here just a moment ago....

Good article, confirms my view of the general public, that if it doesn't start when the key is turned, or operate when the switch is turned on, they are totally clueless .

They are truly amazed when someone can look at the 'machine' and find something like a broken wire or solder joint in a minute , or two.

Bring out a multi-meter, and  they are in wonderment of the capabilities of this device !!!!!

When I lived in Chicago, there was a shop a few miles away, that was  a 'do it your selfer type' dream come true.

If you had a broken appliance, that needed that $1 part, to fix it, if they didn't have it, they could get one in a week or so .

Riding all year long since 1993 .
I'll give up my R65, when they pry my cold dead hands from the handlebars !!!!!

Very interesting story, sorta mirrors why I quit the IT rat-race after 20 plus years and started doing something totally unrelated...
