Home built
« on: April 06, 2009, 06:26:41 PM »
I've got some quality time scheduled with a table saw to build a home made work stand in the near future. Saw this product http://www.legalspeeding.com/Park-n-Move.htm
and I want it but the price is outrageous. Any thoughts on pulling one off with locking wheels for less?

I have to say rich that I like the concept, but I agree that $200 is a little steep. I would have thought that anyone who is reasonably competent with metal (guess that unfortunately leaves me out) could pull one off for a damned sight less.

Hell - he gives you everything in the pictures but the actual dimensions and I wouldn't have thought it would be that difficult to measure up!

I'm seriously thinking that a mate of mine could do domething with this idea. In point of fact, I've emailed him the link.

Cheers

Hmmm, ony a few dollars more for a HF lift!

Trolle, so, what, you remove the seat and then bolt the bike to where the seat used to be?  I can see where that would make frame detailing and re-wiring a whole lot easier - being able to rotate it 360 with just a finger!

aussie,
I'd be curious if your mate comes up wit somthin'. Trolle, I'm amused, ya have a different take on this.
I went and looked up riggers dollies and found that little metal rollie thingies go for big bucks. I still can't see paying the price of a full lift for a bike dolly tho. Wonder how much it would cost to have a Chinese foundry stamp out 1,000 of these. anyone got a CAD program? The search continues.

May be, but in fact that is what I have been using all winter down in my cellar. The wheel base makes moving the bike around very easy and using to bases, one at the rear and one under the forks, I could turn the front freely, which made it easy to adjust the cabling and other things that needed fitting in connection with the RS-fairing.

I plan to expand the concept next winter by connecting the two bases and making a turntable at one end for the front.

The only problem is to get the 200 kgs up on the platform [smiley=huh.gif] [smiley=huh.gif] [smiley=huh.gif]

I haven't forgotten about this - I spoke with my mate yesterday. He's been away for the past week or so and will be getting home 'shortly'..... (he hasn't had a chance to look at emails)

He sounds interested and as a biker he can see the benefits. (He's also a Tech Studies teacher). I'll let you know how it goes....

trolle

I kinda like your idea - not so sure about it for the R65... but for my mountain bike it has promise.

Trolle,
I'm a-gast! you were serious! Diabolically intelligent Scandinavian engineering. I'm still looking into having stampings made. Got a mysterious message on my answering machine from A business prof. at Columbia U about a business proposal, Hmmmm.

I reckon that Justin will have a prototype ready in a very short time!

Not of my design though.

Trolle, you must have a LOT of free time on your hands during the winter months up there in the "north country" to come up with these neat inventions!   ;D
