Yay! Made it to the pavement today !
« on: April 10, 2009, 10:08:29 PM »
Today was a freakishly nice day, about 60F, sunny, but quite windy.  Nonetheless, it helped the road-crews week-long efforts to make our road passable to vehicles with less traction than 4WD, and the muddy bits were not too long and the mud was at most, about 1-2 inches deep.

I could stand it no longer and topped up the tire pressure and hopped aboard the R65 to take a little spin to the gas station and for a brief loop around town.   It was only a 15 mile ride, but the first ride of the season is always the REAL start of springtime for me.

Of course, while on the ride, the $%^& turn signals stopped working - those darn original fuses/holder must be getting corroded again or all the bouncing on the dirt road vibrated them in the holders a bit.
A quick stop by the side of the road, a few spins of the fuses round in their holders, and all well functioning fine again.

So, I was once planning to install a Centech Fuse Panel but I don't think that I may be adding alot of other electrical gizmos to this bike, so I think the next project is to pick up some NAPA (#784667) fuseholders like our friend Monte did and will just re-route/replace the old fuseblock with fuses that are more resistant to vibration and should be more water resistant, too.

Still, its good to be on the road again - like Willie Nelson, but without the wacky weed.

Yay for you Mike!    [smiley=clap.gif]  It always feels great to finally get out.  I've got things to do tomorrow, but I'm working on getting a ride in on Sunday.   8-)

Now, both the R65's have the NAPA fuse holders. Goodbye corrosion concerns.   Monte
