Reynolds rack installed today
« on: August 25, 2007, 04:48:07 PM »
After the proverbial hunting high 'n' low, Justin B's good buddy Richard T stepped up with a chromed #268 that solved all of my Beemerological toting woes, at a great price & shipped very quickly.
Mucho gracias, Richard! [smiley=thumbsup.gif]

It was only a minor PITA to install, primarily because I had to remove the rear glovebox to get the center mounting point bolted down, and scrounge up a couple bolts, nuts & washers for the mid-point fasteners. No biggie, though, and it works great.

Now I can haul waaaay too much stuff up to Willville, instead of just the usual "a bit too much"! ;)

Thanks again, Richard [smiley=thumbsup.gif]

Congratulations Steve!!!  Yep, I've met Richard T, he is a real nice fellow.

Now if you want to carry saddlebags the proper way, you have to wait for some Reynolds loops come up on eBay or wherever.  It is a MUCH cleaner installation than the alternative (what I did).  Unfortunately, they are quite rare and relatively expensive.

Oh well.

Hey Steve now you can put a Givi E52 top case on.  I recommend the brake light option!  Then you are 1/3 of the way to a BMW R65 "LT".   :D

TTFN,

Hmmm, an "LT", huh? Not so sure about that: wouldn't I need at least an R100 engine to get up the hills?  ;)
Is the E52 one of those gi-mormous boxes you can crawl up into and sleep if your tent gets wet in a storm?

I did see a nice smaller box from an F650 on Ebay a few days ago, but the seller was incapable of answering even the most basic questions about its' size, so I passed on it.

I hate dealing with folks on Ebay that don't have even the slightest clue what they're selling... ::)

Hey, if you don't mind "basic black", ('cause that's the only color they come in) then JC Whitney has several topcases to choose from, and they are all under $100!  I mean, they ain't huge, but all will easily hold a full face helmet.  Until I stumbled on my "Triumph" topcase, I was set to order on from JC Whitney!  Maybe worth a look!  ;)

Joan, you need to show off your keg carriers - probably a lot of folks here haven't seen them...

He did say "keg" but it's actually "kegs".

Clever.

I drink almost all of my brew myself, so I don't really need what Joan has.

Hmm, nor will I ever achieve her popularity!   ;D

Joan, if you're reading this, where do you put the CO2 cylinder and stuff?

Hmmm, Joan seems to have drifted away, so please allow me.
If you do a Yahoo search on "R65 Blueberry", you'll fund this:

http://www.pbase.com/joanmarie/blueberry , which has at least a pic or 2 of her Adult Beverage Transportation System, or ABTS in BMW-speak.  ;)

And John, yeah, I've seen some of JC's stuff, and actually there are smaller Givi's available for under a C note, and lots of no-name boxes that look solid on Ebay in the $50 range too. Think I'll hold off on adding one for now, though.
