couple more added to the stable
« on: February 25, 2007, 09:46:03 AM »
yesterday i drove half a hour to meet with a guy who had a bunch of bikes he was selling. i picked up another 79 r65 and i also picked up a ural rolling frame with a complete r65 engine with tranny  and three boxes of engines and parts. from what i see i can built two complete running engines with trannys. i might try stuffing one in that ural frame. i will post picks as soon as i can dig my way throught the 16" of snow we got last night. i still have to unload them from my trailer in the shop.

so has anyone used a r65 in a ural frame?

i dug my way to the shop. i was wrong it it not a ural frame. it is a dnepr frame. waiting for the heat to warm up the shop so i can pull the camera out for picks.

my harley riding neighbor rode over on the snowmobile, he was looking at the frame and asked if bmw was making them look like harleys like everyone else was doing. i had to laugh. told him they did make them and they did look a little like the harleys still do back in WWII. had to show him some pictures. its funny to see how everyone moved on and harley stayed in the same place for over 50 years.

Ummmmm, careful there, we are desciples of a basic motorcycle configuration developed in the early '20's!!!!

Yes, my weekend was a success as well. Picked up an excellent, reconditioned gearbox (with receipts) for my R65 Mono, and......get this....a BRAND NEW mint condition BMW handlebar mounted touring screen, from the same seller, that will go on the 90/6. That has mellowed my enviousness of you so unlike Justin, don't despise you!! LOL

Bill.....................;-)
