My name is Doug. I live in Jacksonville, NC.

Jacksonville is located on the North Carolina coast (a.k.a. Hurricane Alley). Its on the southern half of the coast, closer to South Carolina than to Virginia.

I joined this forum to learn something about the R65 from it's owners and maybe find one for sale in my area.

A few years ago I rode a BMW R100RT (1980 model). While I don't miss that particular bike (a little too big and heavy for me) I do miss owning and riding a BMW Airhead. I know I don't have to explain that to y'all.

Because my wife wanted to ride her own machine, and could not quite get comfortable or proficient (shifting) on some other bikes we tried, I now own two Honda Helix scooters (250cc, automatic). This is the perfect vehicle for her, and truthfully, they are really fun machines; we have taken many enjoyable rides together.

However, I still have an itch for an Airhead, and from what I've learned so far, I think an R65 would be perfect for me.

"I think an R65 would be perfect for me. "

I know it would be.  ;)  (did I already say that in another thread???)

Just two pennies from my soapbox!
