Krauser Top Box Keys
« on: September 13, 2019, 09:38:29 AM »
Hi, I've just acquired a Krauser Top Box for my 1980 R65. I already have a frame and set of Panniers, so when a Top Box became available it seemed like a good idea. The problem I have is that there is no key for the lid and the mounting latch.

The lock barrels carry the code 1D 514 which seem to be a different series to the ones on the panniers.

Does anyone know if there is a key supplier out there for these old Krauser box locks? I've contacted Hepco & Becker and they tell me they don't have any.

Any help would be really appreciated.

Thanks,

Tony

This fellow in Italy has one , bit pricey, but that's relative to how bad you want one.........

Yes, I saw the eBay ad, Joe. I'm learning how to pick locks at the moment so, at least, I can fit the box to my bike.

An expensive replacement key might be the solution, if I want to lock it up afterwards.

Thanks,

Tony
