Tappit cover nut
« on: July 11, 2018, 07:31:29 AM »
Is this the proper nut for the tappit cover. They lock on so tight that I destroyed them getting them off.

Definitely not the right nut. Should look something like this with a wavy washer underneath and be tighten very lightly I don't use a torque wrench but it can't be much above 5 ftlbs.

The nut Barry showed, is for the center stud, the other 2, 10 mm nuts, are plain nuts with wave washers .

I don't know if this is the case for your area, but large home improvement stores here, have prepacked hardware in large bins, was was surprised to see them, you can plain nuts there as well .
