inTorque settings ?
« on: August 29, 2007, 11:07:11 AM »
Hi. I just returned to R65 ownership and am fitting new fork seals to the little gem I found. Can someone please tell me what I should torque the 12 mm allen bolt to, which holds the fork slider on from the bottom. I promise I'm not too tight fisted to buy a workshop manual, I ordered one weeks ago but it's lost in the mail, Aaargh!
Many thanks.

The only reference I can find in my BMW shop manual is :Absorber in sliding tube screw - torque 35 +/- 5 Nm, or 26 +/- 3.6 ft/lbs.  No pictures of course ! A couple of pages were out of order, and found an exploded view of the fork, and the  torque value I quoted is for the allen head screw/bolt at the bottom of the fork assembly.

I'll give up my R65, when they pry my cold dead hands from the handlebars !!!!!
