It's always something..clutch lever
« on: October 13, 2013, 03:18:05 PM »
Hi Everyone,  Well it's funny how one simple thing leads on..

I had my clutch cable break the other day, got a new one( they sent the wrong one..too long),  but discovered the p.o. had cross threaded the adjuster into the housing on the handle bars..it broke off trying  to get it out..ouch!..

Now I need a new housing and adjuster piece..anyone know where to look?

Thanks, Bill

I'd start with searching eBay.

I would think it could be removed and re-tapped...

Possibly, but it is a very large thread relative to the actual assembly and it is after all proudly made in first class pot metal.

I broke the handlebar pinch bolt on mine and was very glad to win a complete lever assembly (complete with clutch cable and start inhibit switch (which went into the bin) and cable adjuster for $US20 and $US20 post. All parts available new from Motobins for around 60 English pounds IIRC

Thanks, Yah, Justin I thought about re tapping but after finding nothing on the island ended up ordering new pieces from Max BMW for$ 120.00.

I'll save the old part & see if it can be retapped at a machine shop later..
