Bing Carb Choke/Enrichner Orientation

...and there's always the question of whether a PO or mechanic has mixed up the enricher parts.

Some good pictures on Snowbums site to check if yours are correct when you take them off. http://bmwmotorcycletech.info/bingcv.htm

Having pointed Balibeemer in the direction of Snowbum's article I read it again myself and came away slightly confused or at least it took a while to sink in. So I've come up with a simple diagram to show enricher parts correctly assembled.

The enricher disc has a pear shaped slot which should be towards the top of the disc with the narrow end pointing towards the cylinder head and a number of small holes which should be towards the bottom of the disc.  The diagram shows the orientation of the disc as a shadow over the Carb body.  I don't pretend that the diagrams are very accurate in terms of the position and size of the holes although the image on the left is meant to show a RH Carb with the enricher off and the image on the right  shows the enricher full on as the disc rotates anticlockwise so that the wider end of the pear shaped slot is positioned over the top left port on the carb.
