Engine case

Hello Guys,
My old 1982 R65 engine case is pitted beyond help (but still running fine). someone near me have an engine case in pristine order and cosmetics but for a 1985 engine.
Do you know if I can switch case without problem ? (I intent to replace engine bearings on my engine, so doing it on the original case or in the "new" one is same hassle...

I honestly don't know and neither it seems did the airheads list. The only thing we know for certain is that it has to be a type 248 case because of the pushrod angles and perhaps other things.  I wonder whether one of the dismantlers would know such as Motobins or Motorworks. You could ask them if they have a spare case and which years the internals from an 82 would fit.

When you have the internals out, why not try to have the original case buffed out??

I did a search on RealOEM and it showed the engine case was the same part number starting with the introduction of the second generation R65 starting in 09/80 and good for all R65's that were produced up until the end of production of this displacement bike .
It was also the same case for the R80 series bikes of this time frame .

I had the same idea to look at the part number on Realoem. Seems telepathy is working after all !
So I bet I'll go for it even if the Finance Minister is complaining because in September the bike will be outlawed due to smoke emission restrictions in my town.
For now they discuss if historic vehicle will be allowed in the week end or not...
If not, I will have to sell the house and buy one in the country in order to use the R65 !
