I would imagine that the diode would be somewhere in the first several inches of wire leading from the relay, but they wouldn't have put it where there was a sharp bend in the harness, so it could be further back.
Diodes fail, but with relative rarity in this low voltage/low current type of application, so I can sense the reasoning behind them just taping it up with the wiring. But still, for posterity's sake, it would have been much nicer to have left it in a more identifiable manner.
