Are you planning on putting it back in it's LS clothes or are you gonna just ride and enjoy it as it is?

Somebody likes you.  Or did you buy it for yourself?

Can he find the LS front fairing stuff?

Is the bike an actual R65LS or is the seat an added mod by the PO?

LS rims were of a different design and usually painted white. Can't tell for sure, but yours appear to be the R65 snowflake rims. (?) LS models had flat black painted headers and exhaust cans, Plus black side panels and a black painted lower area on the fuel tank, sans pin stripes.

Interesting covers on the rear shocks.

Post up the VIN number and it will tell all.

All in, a nice looking R65.

The front wheel and the tailpiece are LS (later model LS's had silver painted rims), I can't see enough of the rear wheel to tell, the chrome front indicator stalks, black rocker covers and tank pinstriping and mufflers are not original LS. But lots of things can be swapped out in 30 years.
The frame number will say for sure. The LS's have R65LS******* stamped on them.

I agree that it looks like an R65 with an LS seat. Do you have twin disc brake on the front?

Hi all , thanks for the replies, it is a twin disc, and the frame no, is 6351567. which when put in the BMW real oem parts, the bike comes up as a 12/1981 248nr65 ls Europe. production code 0359. The rocker covers have been painted black, and the exhaust is a geniuine Bmw one.
The front indicators are not original, probably due to no nose cone. I will be sealing the tank soon although not leaking with por 15 for peace of mind, and would like next year to respray the tank, mudguard and side panels and seat hump. I shall also probably purchase some more rear shocks for some 2 up touring next year and put fresh oil in the front forks. I intend to ride it pretty much as it is though. I replaced the sump gasket because the oil leak would not go away and i feared stripping a thread so that is all good now. I may strip down the l/h cylinder as it leaks a drip of dino oil in time, its not the seal but comes from the valve guide itself( i think) at least it runs down the valve sleeve from somewhere and ends up on the side stand, not a lot but i know its there! Other than that i commute 30 miles a day to work and use at weekends.

Silver bike looks like an LS with many replacement parts. This is my R65 with relocated pegs and LS seat...

The only thing that doesn't look "LS" to my untrained eye are the pipes.  The rear shocks look a bit odd but it looks like a nice bike.  Ride the 'ell out of it!!!!
