BMW Emblems on CV Carbs for R65LS

Have any of you purchased BMW emblems to affix to the top of your Bing CV Carbs?  If so where did you get them?

You can always try a BMW car dealership if they can't find them for you at the bike dealer.

I prefer to clean the rust off the steel tops and paint them silver, so don't have experience with the roundels. I'm the kind of guy who would remove all the identifying badges and advertising - if they can't tell its a bmw, then they'll just have to ask.

BMW dealerships used to offer a roundel sized for the Bing tops. Haven't seen any in a number of years. I have seen solid silver Mercury dimes affixed to the Bing tops. Shiny bit o' bling for those so inclined. 8-)

I've seen them sold at the BMWMOA rally and BMWRA rally - usually they are parts that were destined to be glued onto a key fob, I think.   Keep your eyes open.. may also want to scan ebay periodically.

I just bought a 21mm emblem to cover the top of my now-epoxied-over gas cap key cylinder.  It is BMW  part# 51142308800 and is a tiny but very nice emblem properly used on cases and racks of later model K & R bikes.  (I love the Max BMW parts fiche.  Type in the part # and up comes every techincal drawing for every model the part is used on!)  I was pondering getting 3 to do the carb tops too,but at $7.63 each (before the Chicago 20% discount), I decided to settle for the one and go with the silver paint on the carbs.

Like most everything Airhead, Snowbum has a great technical article on emblems.  I took his advice and got a couple of 70mm tank badges that are actually automobile hubcap trim pieces.  They are nicer than the true tank badges and less than half the cost! [smiley=bmw_smiley.gif]

Thanks - my lock had to be drilled out on my cap - the emblem sounds like a good idea - polishing & painting the CV tops also sounds like a good idea - or Monte's idea about mounting old silver dimes (if you can find them) on the tops.
