Bing Re-build kits...
« on: September 22, 2010, 07:56:33 AM »
Hi Gang,

A Georgia friend with an R75 asks where the rebuild kits are coming from these days.  Are the Normal alcohol resistant floats (Not the double hinge aircraft ones) available only from Bing Agency or is there another source?

This is another thing I've been putting off.  My reason is that the bike has been running so well as of late.  But the floats are 1980 originals and the diaphragms went in at 50,000 miles years ago when I last rebuilt the carbs. Those floats cannot be long for this ethanol enriched world...

I think Bing is the only source for parts for their carbs .

The alcohol resistant floats are only available from Bing, they are not the foam type, but are molded black plastic floats, similar to the alcohol resistant kit parts .

Calling members in England: is there a Bing specialist or Bing company shop in this country? A search engine comes up with nothing, to my surprise. I have a pair of flat top carbs which need overhauling by someone who knows what he is doing.

Not as far as I know unless one of the parts suppliers like Motorworks, Motobins or James Sherlock can do it for you. Maybe they contract work like this out. Do no harm to give them a call.

Overhaul kits are available if you want to do it yourself.  Its very simple and straight forward unless you happen to have a corroded and stuck main  jet holder.
