Planned Updates to the Dawg
« on: July 22, 2010, 09:48:25 AM »
I really don't like the look of the LS snout so I have ordered a small fairing from JC Whip-Me.  I ordered the "squarish" looking one instead of the round bullet style.  Has anyone installed one of these?  I liked the styling PLUS there are already "clearance cutouts" to accommodate turn signal stalks.  It should be here Saturday so I'll try to get it installed next week.

Second issue is the instrumentation.  It will look pretty funky without any housing stuff over it PLUS the trip meter doesn't work correctly and I really don't feel like tearing the speedo apart.  I have decided to do away with the whole thing and install one of the Trail-Tech Vapor instrument computers like Monte installed on his.  I am also thinking of buying a R1150RT instrument cluster assembly and using the idiot lights as part of the R65 dash.  The RT assembly has turn signal indicators, high beam, fog light, oil, gen, and all the other indicators needed and will look a lot nicer than a chunk of aluminum with individual lights mounted on it.

Justin, I had one similar to that.  You just need to be careful about the turn signal cutouts.  They were not positioned right for mine and I had to make some modifications.  Just saying it "could be" an issue.

BTW, it's a good thing that you are doing this after the fact or else it could have raised your taxable value of the bike when you went to register it.   [smiley=beerchug.gif]

Don't encourage the lad, Mike. He's already over stimulated today. More coffee, anyone? Chit-Chat?
