Allowable Ring Gap
« on: April 24, 2010, 01:14:50 PM »
Anybody know what the recommended or allowable ring gap range is for Nikasil application (81 R65)?

My research from Bum's site shows gaps to be:
Top Ring = 0.020"
Center Ring = 0.020"
Bottom Ring = 0.013"

Factory manual:
Top Ring = 0.012" - 0.020"
Center Ring = 0.012 - 0.018"
Bottom Ring = 0.010" - 0.016"

I'm guessing ±0.006" to 0.008" in either direction based on the factory ranges?
