Just to finish this thread really off...I recommend NEVER removing the headers on a 2 crossover system just to paint them....yeesh..what a struggle. At least if you really want them off, do yourself a favour and get those crossovers off one way or the other then put them again upon assembly. I gotta say the bottle jacks did work. The anti-seize is a must and makes the exhaust nuts a breeze. But the crossovers seem a bit testy. Or was that me who was testy??!! :o
I think I could brush paint the POR high temp paint on while the headers were left  in place. Afterall, the mufflers will look so nice maybe they will divert any onlookers eyes. But I would anti-seize the exhaust nuts and the gasket on there and of course the ends where the mufflers join. Just leave the assembly on as much as possible for sanity's sake!!
1983 R65LS - LRB still my favourite!? 1988 Honda NX250, "Toodles Too" and a Suzuki DR650, "Calypso." All stored in the "Brrrmmm Closet".
