Maybe if it is for a SWB /5 - but you will still likely be in for some modifications.  Our tanks are longer than those of the bigger bikes of the era.  I cannot imagine that the hinge-pins would line-up, or even be compatible.

But if you like to play with stuff like this, it might be made to work.

I would buy with expectation that you will have to modify.

Just be careful, as you wont be able to return it if you screw it up.

My Cafe Racer seat is bolted to the subframe via some locally fabricated (by me) bridging mounts.  It does mean that the saddle does not lift though.

How did you mount your seat and can you remove it easily?

Hey Chewie,

Have a look at bmwbayer.de & go to 'chassis'

There may be something there that you don't need to mod; I found a cafe seat for my R65 mono.  (Sorry I can't paste a URL yet as this is my first post)

Cheers, S

Check ebay....motorcycle parts....café seats. They have a lot of fiberglass seats that can be modified to fit your R65. If you do go with a café seat.....I would love to see how it looks....how it went....keeps us informed please.

Take a picture of that and one of your seat to some auto/boat upholsterers in your area.  See what they might be able to do for you.

Write them and ask them.  S. Meyer are very helpful.  I don't know why they have R45/R65 in the title of that auction.  They know better.

When I bought my solo seat/luggage rack from them (through their online store), made for the R65G/S, they asked me what model bike I had, and warned me that it would not "work".  I assured them that I knew this, and was planning on doing some fabrication to make my dream come true.  Soon I had a huge box on my porch with customs stickers and German writing on it!
