Any difference between R65/LS headlight brackets?

As far as I can tell, the only difference between the headlight mounting brackets on an R65 and an R65LS is the length of the turn signal stalks.  Are they otherwise interchangable?

I just went out into the garage, and took a look at my LS, it has the fairing off .

Other than the tubes for mounting the turn directional 'pods', they are the same .

The LS panel also has two holes with welded nuts on each headlight bracket for supports.  #18 in the picture.

I saw that difference also.  I found a new bracket R65LS bracket over on the IBMWR Marketplace, and I just wanted to make sure that it would work for me on my vanilla R65.

I'm still looking for a headlight bucket, lens, trim ring and reflector, if anyone has these stashed away.  That's for an '81 model.

Site moderator, Justin Bowser, bought an aftermarket headlight assembly (lens, and reflector) for about $15US, it's compatible for an H4 lamp, but doesn't have the 'parking light' .

If he doesn't see this thread, send him a PM, or email about it .

I'm down in LA visiting my folks and the in-laws.  My dealer down here found me a Xmas present:  a complete bracket, headlight bucket, lens and trim ring.  Includes also the instrument cluster and even the ignition key to go with the lock!  Must be off a bike from 83 or 84 as it has a 120 mph speedo.

So, when I get back to the bay area, I should have this and the Hall sender waiting for me to install.  I might have it running by New Years!

Anybody need an R65LS headlight bracket?

I could use one if you still have it. I kind of buggered mine up with some of the mods I was trying. It would be nice to have one that is all one piece.
Keep your bike in good repair: motorcycle boots are not comfortable for walking.

The R65LS headlight bracket I bought off the IBMWR Marketplace arrived yesterday.  It looks completely new, no dings or rust.  It is just the bracket -- no fasteners, no fairing brackets, no turn signal extension bits.  I'll sell it for the same $75 I paid.  Includes shipping in the US.
