Looking for (1) Exhaust Nut and New Grips
« on: November 01, 2009, 01:41:24 PM »
Hi - thanks for your suggestions on shocks - I purchased Progressives - all black - old style with coils - from onestopmoto.com  Good tech support person and good prices too.

I'm going to be needing new handgrips to replace the stock foamies - any suggestions appreciated.  Also am looking for one exhaust nut in decent shape - preferably not new.

I will start posting pictures as soon as I get started - right now she's a total basket case but engine & tranny are all rebuilt & ready to go!

RePsycle BMW http://re-psycle.com/

Get mine there. Half price. Ask for Mark or Marco. Go ahead, Justin. Call me cheap.

Gawd! Will this become a dreaded handgrip thread?  ;D

Foam grips were not stock on BMWs.

They were a fairly hard rubber.  I like them.  Some folks don't.

Ken, I have one used exhaust nut for you in "decent" shape you can have.  It should give you adequate grip, there's about 50% good threads. Email me off-list if you're interested.

Mike V., you are aware that the R65 nuts are smaller than the big bikes?

Just in case the one you were offering was from one of your Type 247's...

Rob,
Yep, this one is off the 81 650.  Thanks for the police work, two sets of eyes are always better than one! The offer is still good if needed, I have no use for it and I believe it's still functional. It's his for the asking.
Maybe I should change my avitar?

No Mike, your avatar is fine!

I just had the idea that the R65 is new to your airhead world?  So you might not have been aware (like me, once!).

And I didn't want any disappointments!

Rob,
Well, fairly new - thanks to this forum I'm learning fast (about the R65). Sweet bike! The 650 restoration project officially started around May of 2009. It sat for over 13 years prior. I've been working diligently on it since then and am now on the home stretch...the motor.  The frame/chasis/equipment restoration is completed, every nut, bolt and wave washer gone through. Purchased my R100/7 new in 1978 and is still my primary ride and true love. But, the 650 is very exciting to me and I'm very anxious to get it completed and put some miles on it. The wife "thinks" it's for her.  Little white lie years ago, strategic maneuver on my part. Don't mean to change the thread subject here - but you can see my passion over this project and how I love to share it. I have a total historical pictoral archive on Photobucket if anyone is ever interested.

This is a great time to thank everyone out there for their past and current help, appreciate it very much. Ok, back to the scheduled programming "Looking for Exhaust Nuts and New Grips" NOT "Restoration Nuts and Gratification Grips".
